Verizon Wireless has announced today the release of a new product meant to enhance the user experience of its customers, namely the USB1000 Global Modem from Novatel Wireless. The new device is capable of offering high-speed data connectivity both in the US and abroad, and should provide Verizon users with the best of wireless while traveling internationally, especially given the fact that the company says that its users can enjoy more than 175 destinations for global data connectivity.

The mobile phone carrier also announced that the new USB1000 Global Modem would become available for purchase on Friday at Verizon Wireless Communications Stores and on the company's website, while featuring a price tag of $149.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a two-year contract agreement. Moreover, the company says, the new modem “joins a host of sophisticated global devices that include the BlackBerry Storm smartphone and the HP Mini 1151NR netbook.” Users should be able to access the Internet, download files, browse through web pages, or send and receive emails no matter where they are.

The global services that the wireless operator offers to its customers include GlobalEmail, with access to personal or corporate e-mail inboxes, a Global Travel Program, which enables those who travel for less than 21 days in countries with GSM coverage to use a “no rental fee” voice or data device, and a Global Value Program, aimed at those who travel abroad more frequently, offering them discounted rates from around 150 GSM destinations for only $4.99 per line a month. In addition, users will also be able to stay connected while abroad through their Verizon Wireless phone in more than 40 destinations.

GlobalAccess from the carrier comes both as a monthly plan and as a pay-per-use one. The GlobalAccess Monthly Plans start at $129.99 monthly access. GlobalAccess Pay Per Use requires a 5 GB monthly allowance Mobile Broadband service plan in the United States, which goes for $59.99 monthly access.
