14 DAY TRIAL // Verizon Wireless announced that it has added new features to its VZ Navigator service. The enhancements to the service include Place Messaging, a new VZ Navigator website, and the ability to synchronize searches from the website to VZ Navigator-capable phones.
The new Place Messaging feature allows a customer to send directions to others through VZ Navigator's new Messages option. For example, when someone is making dinner plans and wants to send the restaurant's location to friends, he can send them a message on their VZ Navigator-enabled phone. The message sent opens up VZ Navigator on the friend's phone, allowing him to navigate to the destination, map it and save it to his Favorites folder. The message will automatically be sent as a standard TXT Message to recipients with Verizon Wireless phones that do not subscribe to VZ Navigator.
The new companion website for VZ Navigator (accessible HERE), enables users to search for a location on their desktop or laptop, save locations in their Favorites folder and recall locations from their Recent Searches folder, all retrievable later right on their own phones. In addition, they can send Place Messages from their computer to their phone, to other Verizon Wireless customers or to any email address.
The new synchronization feature on VZ Navigator allows customers to synchronize their Recent Searches and Favorites folders on the VZ Navigator website with those folders on their VZ Navigator-capable phones. The Verizon Wireless network automatically detects if folders need to be synchronized and asks customers if they want to perform the action now or at a later time.
VZ Navigator is a GPS-enabled Get It Now application that transforms a user's wireless handset into a navigation device. VZ Navigator provides voice-prompted turn-by-turn directions with auto-rerouting, local search of nearly fourteen million points of interest in the U.S.A., and detailed color maps that can be quickly panned and zoomed. VZ Navigator is available to Verizon Wireless customers for $9.99 for unlimited monthly access or $2.99 for one-day use.
