Shortly after announcing plans to implement a $2 Convenience Fee for online or telephone single payments, Verizon Wireless had a change of heart and decided to drop the online payment fee.

Partly based on consumers feedback and FCC's (Federal Communications Commission) planned investigation, Verizon's decision comes as a logic result.

However, the carrier's motives were wrapped in a PR-esque shell to make it look like Verizon is really listening its customers. Are they?

At Verizon, we take great care to listen to our customers. Based on their input, we believe the best path forward is to encourage customers to take advantage of the best and most efficient options, eliminating the need to institute the fee at this time,” said Dan Mead, president and chief executive officer of Verizon Wireless.
