Verizon Wireless announced that its V CAST Video service now includes programming from the Sundance Channel. Addressed at mobile users who prefer independent film and programming, the Sundance Channel on V CAST includes mobile clips from prior Sundance Film Festival coverage, as well as animated and live action short films and Sundance Channel original programming.

"Verizon Wireless provides customers the content they want how they want it, and we are thrilled to extend an array of content from Sundance Channel to our customers," said Ryan Hughes, vice president of digital programming for Verizon.

The programming featured on the Sundance Channel includes: clips from prior Sundance Film Festival coverage featuring Robert Redford and Crispin Glover; animated green short films such as "Yung Yeti" by Cole Gerst, "Breakfast" by Bob Fox and "Wasted" by Casey Safron; live action short films including "Electric Chairs" directed by Anita McGee and "Not Pretty, Really" directed by Mark McKinney; segments from Sundance Channel's original series "Big Ideas for a Small Planet". Also, starting with January 17, the channel will add daily video clips from Sundance Channel's "Festival Updates" from the 2008 Sundance Film Festival. In addition, throughout the year the content featured on the Sundance Channel will include film and documentary clips, thematic stunts around special events (such as the Earth Day), and short film projects developed for the small screen.

"We are thrilled to bring Sundance Channel content to Verizon Wireless' mobile audience," said Christopher Barry, senior vice president of digital media and business strategy for Sundance Channel. "We also look forward to showcasing original film projects that are developed with the small screen in mind during 2008."

Launched in 1996, Sundance Channel is a cable television network broadcasting independent feature films, world cinema, documentaries, short films, and original programs. Each year it offers news about the latest developments from the annual Sundance Film Festival, the largest independent cinema festival in the U.S.
