Major carrier Verizon is trying to boost Galaxy Nexus sales or at least raise the excitement around the Android 4.0 smartphone, by throwing a 4-day giveaway.

Starting today at 10AM ET, the carrier kicks off a competition on its official Twitter account, giving away a free Galaxy Nexus each day, for the next 4 days.

Those who would like to compete should make sure they are following Verizon’s official Twitter account (@VerizonWireless) and meet the eligibility requirements.

Each day of the contest is marked as an ‘entry period’ and has different rules that need to be followed in order to be eligible for the giveaway.

The first ‘entry period’ requires contest participants to tweet a photo of their funniest face using any third-party photo tweeting service, such as YFrog or Twiptic. This must be done using the hashtag ‘#GalaxyNexus4X4.’

The second ‘entry period’ requires participants to tweet two circles that you would want to keep separate using the same ‘#GalaxyNexus4X4’ hashtag.

In the third ‘entry period’ participants will have to tweet what they would like to share faster (music, photos, hilarious videos) with the speed of 4G LTE. Using the ‘#GalaxyNexus4X4’is mandatory again.

Tweeting the name of someone special (first name only) using the hashtag ‘#GalaxyNexus4X4’ is the requirement of the fourth ‘entry period.’

The contest is open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia, 18 years of age and older. There’s a 10-entry limit per Twitter account per ‘entry period.’ Obviously, the contest is subject to Twitter character limitations of 140 characters per tweet.

According to Verizon, “Daily Prize Winners will be selected in each of four separate random drawings, one for each Entry Period, from among all eligible entries received during each daily Entry Period. Entries will not be carried forward for any subsequent drawings. Drawings will take place on or about January 31, 2012.”
