Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless has started to provide some of its users with software updates for the high-end devices they own, and the DROID Pro

by Motorola is one of them.

The same as with the Samsung Fascinate, the new software update was meant mainly to provide users with a series of fixes and enhancements, and no OS upgrade was included into the mix.

“Enjoy improved performance with these OS enhancements. Verizon Wireless is pleased to announce a new software update for your Droid Pro by Motorola (Version.2.26.60. XT610.Verizon.en.US),” the wireless carrier states in the release notes for this software.

“The update for the Droid Pro includes numerous enhancements and improvements. Verizon Wireless and Motorola encourage you to download this update,” the company continues.

For what it's worth, those DROID Pro by Motorola owners on Verizon Wireless' airwaves who will download and install the new software would enjoy enhancements ranging from better audio during calls to a series of stability and performance improvements.

A quick look at the release notes for the new software update would show the following:

Improved audio on voice calls. Device now prepends 011 to Country Code to send SMS messages. Global Mode no longer resets when connecting to a USB charger. Visual Voice Mail now detects airplane mode while Wi-Fi is active. User interface display now refreshes when user switches from GSM/UMTS communication to Global Mode. Prompt return to full screen brightness after wake-up Improved stability and performance.

The DROID Pro by Motorola was released into the wild last year with Google's Android 2.2 operating system on board, and the new update for it does not change that.

However, Verizon and Motorola are expected to offer an update to the newer Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS flavor sometime in the near future, even if no official plans on the matter were unveiled.

Hopefully, it won't be too long before they decide to make the move, so keep an eye on this space for additional info on the matter.

In the meantime, you should head over to Verizon's support website here to learn more details on the new software update for the DROID Pro.
