Last week, Verizon Wireless and Motorola launched on the market a new Android-based device, the DROID X, which already managed to prove one of the most appealing handsets in the carrier's offering. However, the early high popularity the new handset enjoyed at Verizon was somehow shadowed by reports regarding issues with its display, though it seems that things are not as bad as though, according to Big Red.

Some of the early DROID X adopters reported various issues with the phone's display, including flickering, banding display and the like, but it seems that only a very small number of handsets were affected. According to a recent article on Engadget, Big Red acknowledged the issue and said that only “one-tenth of one percent” of all units showed these symptoms.

“Verizon Wireless and Motorola are aware of a very small number of DROID X units that have experienced a flickering or banding display. Motorola has resolved the issue and is continuing to ship the phones. Any consumer who experiences a flickering or banding display should contact a Motorola customer support center or Verizon Wireless,” the mobile phone carrier reportedly stated on the matter.

It seems that indeed only a small number of DROID X owners were affected by the issue, and that the rest of them are taking full advantage of the handset's capabilities. According to Verizon business development executive director Jennifer Byrne, DROID X users already eat up to five times more data than the owners of other devices on the carrier's airwaves. Considering that this figure is shared one week after the phone was launched, it does seem pretty impressive.

The latest DROID phone might indeed seem a highly appealing device, with its large touchscreen, its fast processor and its connectivity options, but it seems that there is always room for more. According to a recent post on Android Central, users can also purchase Mobi Products skin cases for the DROID X, available for only $9.95, and made out of a durable anti-slip material aimed at protecting the device.
