A desperate scream for attention from Verizon

Big day for Apple and AT&T stores today. The frenzy over the launch of the iPhone has managed to eclipse other carriers these days, not only other phone models. Verizon has announced that they will close stores later than usual today in order to provide an extra amount of service time for customers.

Apple's first choice for bringing the iPhone to the public was Verizon. It seems like they had troubles in coming to an agreement and negotiations stilled and later ended with Apple's decision to look for another carrier. AT&T is now the proud service provider which will bring the iPhone to the US market, although it is also a disadvantage that potential buyers of the handset only barely accept.

Whether Verizon has experienced some remorse after throwing away such a great opportunity or not is unknown. Still, it looks as they don't plan to just stand and watch Apple and AT&T receive all the attention. Verizon has announced that they will close late today, at 9 PM, just to offer an extra amount of time for people who wish to experience the services that they have to offer.

Still, AT&T manages to surpass this closing hour too. This company's stores will be closed starting 4:30 PM. This is only because of the fact that the iPhones will be shipped between 4 and 6 PM and the salespersons need time to arrange the display of the devices in record time after receiving them. Moreover, this is meant to bring some amount of organizing in the excitement that is expected to be seen at the iPhone's launch. At 6 o'clock they will reopen and stay like this until 12PM.

Verizon uses this occasion to remind its potential clients that it holds almost 20 multimedia music devices at affordable prices. Their phones range around USD100, which looks very little when compared to the USD 500 and USD 600 that the iPhone will come in its 4GB and 8GB versions.
