No Lumia is available on their website as of today

If you’re living in the United States and you’re looking to buy a Lumia phone, you might want to skip Verizon these days because the company has apparently stopped selling Microsoft’s phones today for no clear reason.

At this point, there’s no Lumia device listed on the website, so no such model can be purchased right now if you’re a Verizon customer. On the other hand, as Windows Central writes, Verizon still has the HTC M8 for Windows, so it’s clearly not a decision made against Windows Phone, but most likely an issue that affects Microsoft directly.

Since it’s not very clear what happened, we’ve got in touch with the Verizon support staff and asked if any Lumia devices are expected to come back in stock any time soon.

Apparently, this lack of information persists within Verizon as well, as support workers don’t know exactly what happened with Lumias and said that they “might come back in stock in the coming weeks, but nothing is certain.”

New update for Verizon Windows Phone devices in early 2015

It’s a well-known fact that Verizon customers owning Windows Phone devices have been neglected in the last months when it comes to OS updates, but a sudden change of strategy took everyone by surprise in late 2014, when Microsoft’s Joe Belfiore announced that Lumia Icons would be updated to Denim in early 2015.

Both the Lumia 822 and the Lumia 928 were supposed to receive the Denim update in the first months of 2015, thus skipping Cyan completely and getting the latest improvements released by Microsoft as part of its new firmware.

“We also recognize that many of you on Verizon who have the Lumia Icon are anxious to hear about updates for your Windows Phone. Today we are confirming that the Lumia Icon will receive the upgrade to Windows Phone 8.1 in early 2015. This upgrade will also be the Lumia Denim update” Microsoft said in an announcement on December 19.

Until now, these devices haven’t yet received the Denim update, but there’s still hope that the new firmware will be released in early 2015.

We’ve contacted Microsoft for a word on this and hopefully we’ll get an answer to see if Lumia devices would continue to be available at Verizon or not.
