Yesterday the news according to which Verizon wasn't letting users activate their brand new Nexus 7 LTE versions spread like wild fire. Now the company has finally issued an official response directly addressing customers' concerns. Spokesperson Debi Lewis posted on the company's official website, saying that the Google Nexus 7 is not yet a Verizon 4G LTE certified device.

This we already knew. However, this post manages to shed light on what the carrier's actual plans are. No shadiness involved. Apparently, the 4G LTE certification process has been kick started since August and is expected to get the green light shortly.

Verizon's certification processes can take up to 4-6 weeks and is completed in Verizon-friendly third-party labs. Once the device gains certification, the carrier will work alongside Google to bring Nexus 7 LTE activation to its users.

As a reminder, the Nexus 7 is available at AT&T and T-Mobile through the Google Play Store, and those purchasing it now will benefit from a discount.
