It looks like the highly anticipated Android 4.4 KitKat update for Motorola Moto X is closer than we expected. Although the US-based company has confirmed that the upgrade will arrive on Moto X in a matter of weeks, it appears that Verizon has already started to test the build.

Phandroid reports that numerous Moto X users have already received invitations from Verizon to participate “in an early preview of a new software release, and provide feedback.”

As usual, you have to be a member of the Motorola Feedback Network in order to receive such an invitation. While the email does not explicitly refer to the update as Android 4.4 KitKat, we suspect it can't be anything else that important to require a soak test.

No word on when exactly the soak test will commence, but we expect the new software update to be pushed to Moto X device within days after completion.
