Sony's Xperia Z2 Tablet is still stuck on Android 4.4 KitKat operating system at Verizon Wireless, but an Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrade is expected to arrive sometime this year.

Until then though, Sony has decided to release an update for the Xperia Z2 Tablet that brings a few new features and improvements. Software version 23.0.1.E.0.208 is now being pushed OTA (over the air), in stages.

The most important change seems to be the addition of PS4 Remote Play functionality with PS4 DualShock 4 controller support.

Apart from support for PS4 Remote Play, Sony also delivered optimized touch sensitivity with reduced chattering and improved sensitivity drift.

The update should also enhance device encryption performance and improved TalkBack accessory support. Last but not least, font size, iconography and layout improvements have also been included in the update.

Keep in mind that in order to take advantage of the new PS4 Remote Play functionality, you will need the official Remote Play application installed on the tablet. Obviously, a DualShock 4 controller is needed as well.

As we mentioned earlier, the update is delivered OTA (over the air) in waves, so it might take a while until it reaches all Sony Xperia Z2 Tablets.
