As expected, Verizon Wireless is the first carrier to start the Android 4.3 upgrade push for Samsung Galaxy S4. We reported yesterday on a leak document that confirmed that the long-awaited update would arrive in the United States in the coming weeks.

Shortly after our report, Samsung came forward with an official announcement, which stated that Galaxy S4, Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note II would receive Galaxy Gear compatibility via a Premium Suite upgrade which contained Android 4.3 as well.

Today, AndroidPolice reports that Verizon Wireless has published the official changelog of the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for Samsung Galaxy S4 and started the rollout of the upgrade. The following changes have been included in this Premium Suite for Galaxy S4:

Support has been added to: - Blocking Mode feature in Settings Menu - Enabling NFC feature before using Group Play - Samsung Knox, Security Enhanced for Android

Changes have been made to: - OS has been upgraded to Android Jellybean 4.3 OS - Starter Mode renamed to Easy Mode - Viewdini stub application has been removed (note: customers who already downloaded the full application will not lose it)

Improvements have been made to: - Weatherbug application “auto-refresh” - Mobile Hotspot now works with the Data Usage Meter - Video app crashing has been resolved - Call audio issue while on a call and taking a picture have been addressed

Keep in mind that the update is pushed OTA (over the air) in stages, so it might not be available for all Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 devices at the same time.

Those who own the Galaxy S III or Galaxy Note II will have to wait a few more weeks, as Verizon is expected to offer the same update for these smartphones beginning in November. Stay tuned for more info on the matter.
