Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless has just announced that it offers developers the possibility to submit software solutions developed for Google's Android operating system to its V CAST Apps portal.

Of course, Google already has in place an application portal for the mobile platform, but it seems that Verizon is set to offer better deals to those application builders interested in bringing their solutions to its store.

“Verizon Wireless has opened Android submissions for V CAST Apps! We are preparing to launch V CAST Apps across our industry-leading lineup of Android handsets, and we want to give you the opportunity to get in on the ground floor,” the carrier announced via its developer website.

What the V CAST App Store has to offer to developers includes free testing, as well as fast time to market, as the carrier promises that apps would be in the portal within 14 days of submission.

Other features of the store include:

- Abbreviated Click-Thru Agreement - Carrier Billing – Your applications are billed directly to the Customer’s Bill; No credit cards, PayPal, etc. - 70/30 Revenue Share – 70% Developer / 30% Verizon - Hands-on, Experienced Content Programming Team – Get the visibility you deserve, not just a quality-crushing algorithm! - Content Programming and Store continuity across multiple platforms (BlackBerry & Android) - Integration with Network API’s! Messaging & aGPS - Detailed submission guides online and forums monitored by our support staff - Subscription Billing – Coming Soon!

For the time being, the V CAST Apps store is expected to be deployed on handsets powered by Android OS 2.2 (FroYo), but more OS flavors would be added in the future.

However, the carrier did say that no older Android version would enjoy support: “We will not be rolling V CAST Apps out to earlier versions of the Android OS. When additional OS’s are supported, you will have the option to submit by both device and OS, but for now 2.2 is the standard.”

The carrier also announced that developers would be able to submit end-user screenshots, as well as generic contact information and pricing during a binary submission phase, and that this phase started on September 1st for DROID Incredible, DROID 1 and DROID X.

Additional info on the matter can be found on Verizon's Developer website here, where application builders can also register to start submitting solutions to the portal.
