Owners of a Samsung Galaxy Stellar smartphone on Verizon Wireless’ network will soon be able to enjoy the benefits of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on their devices, support documents on the carrier’s website unveil.

Said document unveils that a new software update is en route to this smartphone, and that it will land on the device with version IMM76D.i200VRALG4 attached to it.

Verizon Wireless is pleased to announce a new software update, SW Version IMM76D.i200VRALG4, for your Samsung Galaxy Stellar. This update includes an upgrade to the Android Operating System 4.1 (Jelly Bean),” the wireless carrier announced.

Following the update, users will enjoy new features included in this Android version, such as Google Now and Project Butter, all aimed at delivering a better overall experience.

Furthermore, the new platform release will bring along expandable notifications, while also enabling people to send mails, return calls, share photos and more, all straight from the notifications pane.

However, it seems that the update is not all about the improvements included in Android 4.1, but that it also comes with some device-specific enhancements, coming from Verizon and Samsung themselves.

Among these, we can count the added support for memory cards of up to 64GB, along with better call clarity when using the AUX Port of the car radio.

Other changes include:

- New VZW Remote Diagnostics application for Jelly Bean software has been added. - Multimedia messages no longer show when user sends group text message. - Improvements to Back Up Assistant (BuA) manual sync and Wi-Fi connection have been made. - “Merge with Google” and “Merge with Samsung” have been removed from contact menu. - Spell check functionality has been improved. - Improved network connection has been made. - VZW Sync & Connect email server connectivity has been improved. - S-Suggest preloaded application has been removed. - Verizon app store application has been removed.

The new software update for Galaxy Stellar weighs 403.6MB and should require around 15-20 minutes to download, and about the same to install on the smartphone, phoneArena notes. Users should start receiving notifications on the update’s availability soon.
