Unveiled last week at the International Consumers Electronics Show, in Las Vegas, the purple flavor of the DROID RAZR has just been confirmed by Verizon Wireless for a January 23 release.

Starting on Monday, January 23, Verizon Wireless customers will be able to choose one of the three color schemes available for the DROID RAZR: Black, White and Purple.

Furthermore, the carrier also dropped the smartphone’s price on contract, so customers who are willing to commit to a two-year agreement can purchase the DROID RAZR for only $199.99 (155 EUR).

But there’s a catch. Verizon Wireless pulled the 16GB microSD memory card from the sales package, which is a bit weird given the low value of the memory card.

Other than that, the purple DROID RAZR comes with the same features as the black and white flavors, including the dual core TI OMAP 4430 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz and the PowerVR SGX540 graphics processing unit.

Motorola’s Android flagship smartphone is powered by Gingerbread platform, but the handset maker already confirmed that the RAZR would get the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade in Q1 2012.

Those unfamiliar with the phone’s specs should know that this is one of the slimmest Android phones available in the market, at only 7.1mm thickness.

It comes with a large 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Advanced capacitive touchscreen with 540 x 960 pixels resolution and 16 million colors support.

On the back, the DROID RAZR features an impressive 8-megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash, which will get even better with zero shutter lag feature once the smartphone receives the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade.

There’s also a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls, 16GB of internal memory, 1GB of RAM, microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB), LTE and Wi-Fi support, as well as HDMI and GPS with A-GPS.
