Users can also choose to purchase it with a new contract agreement

Galaxy Nexus, the latest Google phone out there, is one year old, and this is already visible in the series of price cuts it has suffered lately.

Those of you who would still want to purchase the device can find it available both through Google and via wireless carriers in the US, and can also take advantage of some sweet deals that are in place for the Verizon flavor of the device.

The latest of them involves “Certified Pre-Owned” Galaxy Nexus devices, up for purchase on the wireless carrier’s website for only $229.99, contract-free.

Of course, the device can be acquired on contract as well, for only $49.99, though with Amazon selling it at only $0.01 brand new with a two-year agreement, it doesn’t sound like the best deal there is.

Although 12 months old, the Galaxy Nexus is still one of the best devices out there, soon to be replaced by other Nexus smartphones, should the latest rumors on the matter pan out.

The smartphone comes with a 4.65-inch 1280x720 HD Super AMOLED display on the front, and with a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor packed inside, complemented by 1GB of RAM.

Moreover, it sports 32GB of internal storage, without the possibility to expand it further, a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with support for HD video recording, and a front camera for making video calls.

At Verizon, the mobile phone landed with support for the wireless carrier’s LTE, CDMA/PCS/1xEVDO Rev. A (800/1900 MHz) bands, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS receiver, Mobile Hotspot, and a 1850 mAh battery inside, capable of delivering up to 12 hours of talk time, or up to 150 hours of standby time.

Galaxy Nexus runs under Google’s Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system at the moment, while offering support for the hundreds of thousands of applications available for download through the Google Play Store.
