Verizon is gearing up for the release of Apple’s new iPad model on its airwaves, with a few treats packed inside for those who will choose its LTE network over that of competitors.

The wireless carrier has confirmed plans to provide owners of the new iPad with free Mobile Hotspot capability on its network.

This feature is already available for the 4G LTE-capable tablet PCs that are currently available on Verizon’s airwaves, and their owners can take full advantage of it at the moment.

Apparently, the operator plans on providing the owners of the new iPad with similar capabilities too, and will maintain the same data plans as before.

“The new iPad on the Verizon Wireless network will have the mobile hotspot feature,” the wireless carrier reportedly confirmed, according to a recent article on 9To5Mac.

“Our 4G LTE tablets have the mobile hotspot feature and it is included in the tablet data plans so for example, customers who sign up for the $30 for 2GB plan will also have access to the mobile hotspot feature.”

For those out of the loop, we should note that Verizon’s data plans for the iPad will include the option of 1GB of data per month for $20 (exclusive for the device), 2GB for $30, and 10 GB for $80. The Mobile Hotspot feature is included.

Verizon and AT&T will be the only wireless carriers in the United States to add the LTE-capable iPad to their offering. However, the hotspot feature will be available only on Big Red’s network.

A recent post on AT&T’s Customer Care Twitter account notes that the feature won’t be available with the new iPad model.

However, the carrier appears set to change that: “We are working with Apple to enable this feature in the future, but we currently do not offer it,” an AT&T spokesman stated, according to 9To5Mac.
