Major carrier Verizon Wireless is looking for means to expand its customer database, which is why it kicked off an interesting promotional deal aimed at those who wish to grab a 4G-enabled smartphone.

Starting today, each customer who purchases a 4G phone through Amazon Wireless or Wirefly will receive a $40 credit on their monthly bill.

Verizon will only make this offer available until May 24, so customers who wish to take advantage of this attractive offer should hurry if they want to purchase a new 4G smartphone.

It is also worth mentioning that the promotional offer is available for both new and upgrading customers, each being allowed to activate up to 5 devices in order to receive the $40 credit on their monthly bills.

Furthermore, Verizon notes that once customers activate a new 4G smartphone purchased via Amazon Wireless or Wirefly, the credit will appear on their bills and may take three billing cycles to appear.

Keep in mind that standard early-cancellation fee and other upfront and monthly charges and fees may apply.

4G devices participating at this deal includes: Samsung Galaxy Nexus , Samsung Stratosphere, Samsung DROID CHARGE, Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX, Motorola DROID BIONIC, Motorola DROID RAZR, Motorola DROID 4, HTC Rezound, LG Lucid, LG Spectrum and Pantech Breakout.

All Verizon smartphones mentioned earlier are now available for purchase via Amazon Wireless and they’re usually being shipped in 24 hours. Most of these devices are available for only $0.01, so check it out here.

Major retailer Wirefly offers the same 4G-enabled smartphones with Verizon’s $40 credit, with one exception.

It appears that Wirefly does not sell the Motorola DROID RAZR, only the DROID RAZR MAXX, so customers who are looking to purchase the former can head over to Amazon’s online store.

On the positive side, Wirefly’s offers some of these 4G smartphones for free with a new two-year agreement. Check it out here.
