A few days ago, wireless services provider Verizon Wireless announced the availability of two new tablet PCs on its airwaves, the DROID XYBOARD 8.2 and the DROID XYBOARD 10.1, both of which are already available for purchase.

Just as their names suggest, the two tablet PCs feature touchscreen displays of 8.2 and 10.1 inches, respectively. Moreover, they arrive with various options when it comes to the amount of internal memory packed inside them.

The DROID XYBOARD 8.2 was released with 16GB and 32GB storage options, with a price tag starting at $429.99. As for the DROID XYBOARD 10.1, it was released in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB flavors, with price tags starting at $529.99.

Both of these devices arrive on shelves with 1.2GHz application processors inside, dual-core chips, as well as 1GB of RAM for increased performance capabilities.

“Welcome to a new dimension of DOES. Xyboard is a home theater system compressed to fit in your hands. Just 0.35” thin and 0.86 lbs, it packs explosive power in a highly portable design,” Verizon notes on its website.

“Take it anywhere, and get pulled into your entertainment with an 8.2–inch HD theatrical screen (or a 10.1–inch screen).”

The specifications list of these tablets also includes a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with 720p HD video recording, complemented by 1.3MP front camera for video calling.

Moreover, the two devices arrive on shelves with support for the wireless carrier’s 4G LTE network, and with CDMA 800/1900 MHz capabilities.

The new DROIDs are powered by Google’s Android 3.2 Honeycomb operating system, though Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich could arrive on them in the not-too-distant future.

“Take your full–screen window to the web outdoors, and get blazing–fast streaming speeds with Verizon 4G LTE. Keep your productivity up with Xyboard’s multitasking dual–core 1.2 GHz processor,” the carrier explains.

“Don’t just snap pictures, snatch them with both hands via the 5MP camera. Then fly through your gallery on an 8.2 / 10.1–inch HD screen. And seize every scene with HD video capture. On your command, Xyboard engages in full–screen video–chat with its front–facing camera.”
