Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless has just announced the availability of its 4G LTE network in a number of nine new markets around the United States, bringing the total number of areas that enjoy the connectivity to 55.

The new markets that enjoy 4G connectivity from Verizon include Mobile and Montgomery Ala.; Greater Fairfield and New Haven, Conn.; Gainesville, Pensacola and Tallahassee, Fla.; Fayetteville-Lumberton, N.C.; and Bryan-College Station and Temple-Killeen, Texas.

Moreover, the wireless carrier announced the availability of the 4G LTE services in new areas in Atlanta, Chicago, Denver, New Orleans and Philadelphia.

Users interested in the carrier's 4G services can purchase a wide range of devices that would support them, ranging from smartphones to USB modems and mobile hotspots.

The list of devices that Verizon makes available for its customers include the DROID Charge by Samsung and ThunderBolt by HTC smartphones, as well as the MiFi 4510L 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot and Samsung 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot.

Moreover, the carrier has for sale USB modems from Novatel, Pantech and LG, which can provide connectivity to laptops while on the go.

“We’re now offering consumers and businesses in 55 metropolitan areas the most advanced 4G wireless network on the planet, while continuing to offer the nation’s most reliable 3G network coast to coast,” David Small, chief technical officer for Verizon Wireless, noted.

“We plan to bring 4G LTE mobile broadband to our entire 3G coverage area by the end of 2013,” he continued.

These devices also offer support for the carrier's 3G network, which means that, when users walk outside the LTE coverage area, they would be able to connect to the CDMA network to keep users online around the country.
