Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless has quietly added to its offering two new cheap handsets, in the form of LG Optimus Zone 2 and LG Extravert 2, which come as refreshed versions of already available devices at the operator.

Both of these phones can already be seen listed on the company’s website, with price tags of $200 (€145) attached to them, contract-free, though the Zone 2 is available at only $50 (€36) right now.

As PhoneScoop notes, both of these phones arrive on the market with improved specifications over their predecessors, though they remain confined to the wireless carrier’s 3G network, with no support for 4G LTE packed inside them.

LG Optimus Zone 2 went official on Verizon’s network with a 3.5-inch touchscreen capable of delivering a 480 x 320 pixels resolution and with Google’s Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system loaded on top.

The smartphone is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor paired with 512MB of RAM and packs 4GB of internal memory, along with a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

Moreover, the mobile phone comes with a 3-megapixel camera on the back, capable of video recording at 800 x 480 pixels resolution. It also supports capturing of screenshots during video playback, pause and resume recording, and geotagging.

Moreover, it features a 1700mAh battery inside, capable of offering up to 10 hours of usage time or up to 15 days of standby time. Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n connectivity, Bluetooth 4.0, and the usual set of connectivity capabilities were also included inside this device.

LG Extravert 2, on the other hand, is a basic phone that sports a smaller body than Zone 2, though it comes with a side-sliding form factor and with a QWERTY keyboard hidden beneath its 3.2-inch touchscreen display that can deliver a 400 x 240 pixels resolution.

The phone arrives on shelves with only 256 MB of internal memory, but also packs a microSD memory card slot, which can accommodate cards of up to 32GB in size.

The device is powered by a 1000mAh Li–Polymer battery that can offer up to 5.5 hours of usage time or up to 17 days of standby time. Moreover, LG Extravert 2 features a 2-megapixel camera with support for video recording, but don’t expect a high-end experience from it.

The handset comes with Bluetooth connectivity packed inside, GPS capabilities, 3.5mm headset jack, dedicated keys for social networks and messaging, and various pre-loaded Verizon apps, including VZ Navigator, VZW Backup Assistant+, Mobile Email, and more.
