It seems that the application store trend is attracting more and more companies, both from the mobile phone makers’ side and from the wireless operators’. Verizon Wireless, one of the leading providers of wireless services in the United States, announced at the CTIA Wireless 2009 trade show in Las Vegas, Nevada that it had launched its own mobile software portal.

The mobile phone carrier announced the release of its Mobile Web Games and Apps Store, which provides users with an easy and fun way to access the games and applications it has to offer. The new portal comes with “cool graphics and an easy-to-navigate menu” that will help users go through a wide range of titles and tools Verizon Wireless offers for a lot of its handsets.

Verizon subscribers who own Get It Now-capable phones can cycle around through the hundreds of games and applications that are available through the Mobile Web Games and Apps Store. The new service is available for both WAP and HTML handsets, and allows users to preview and order popular titles like “Tetris” or “Guitar Hero World Tour,” as well as apps like VZ NavigatorSM and Backup Assistant.

The company further states that the new Mobile Web software portal also comes with a keyword search, offering an even simpler way to access games and applications that users already know about, while they will also be able to discover new apps with just a few clicks.

According to Verizon Wireless, a $15.00 monthly V CAST VPak subscription will offer unlimited Mobile Web usage, as well as access to V CAST Video, V CAST Music and Media Center/Get It Now applications. In addition, users will also be able to access Mobile Web for free with a Nationwide Plan, yet usage charges of $1.99 per megabyte would apply.
