Verizon has been expected to release a firmware update for its BlackBerry Storm 9530 for quite some time now, and the list of bug fixes and improvements the new 4.7.0.113 firmware version is expected to bring along has been spotted in the wild already, though the mobile phone carrier doesn't seem to be in a rush with the release of the update just yet, at least not for the following couple of weeks, according to the news.

It seems that even if Verizon Wireless is the leading mobile phone carrier in the United States, it still maintains its reputation of being the “slowest-to-adopt and late-to-market” operator, this being the reason why the official bug-killing BlackBerry OS 4.7.0.113 firmware hasn't been made available for Storm users yet.

For what it's worth, the new firmware is expected to be the first major update Verizon has released since December, as it comes with a wide range of fixes meant to prevent the device from freezing when using voice dialing or the display from being filled with small, multicolored dots. The improvements that it should bring forth include an on-screen keyboard that customers will certainly find very useful when using the phone in portrait mode.

According to Engadget Mobile, mobile phone carriers around the world have already released their firmware updates for the BlackBerry Storm, and some are already running software newer than the BlackBerry OS 4.7.0.113 on their devices. In addition, the handset has been already updated by Canadian carriers Bell and Telus, which means that Verizon is left behind a little.

We should also mention that various unofficial versions of the firmware update already surfaced on different websites and forums, yet those who do not know what they are doing should probably wait until Verizon releases the over-the-air software update for its subscribers. At the same time, given the fact that a second Storm has been already rumored and confirmed to come to the market by the end of the ongoing year, this might as well be the last firmware update released for the touchscreen handset.
