Wireless service provider Verizon Wireless announced recently the launch of a new tool for its customers, namely V CAST Media Manager. According to the operator, the new solution is meant to offer users the possibility to manage the syncing of their photos, videos, and music between the mobile phone and their personal computer.

The new solution from the carrier comes “powered by a customized version of QuickLink Media Software from Smith Micro Software, Inc.,” the mobile phone operator notes. When using V CAST Media Manager and an USB cable, Verizon's customers that own an LG enV TOUCH, Samsung Alias or Alias 2 should be able to easily move their photos and videos from the handset to the PC.

“Our customers use their wireless phones more and more to capture photos and video of important events and everyday moments, and now V CAST Media Manager will help them preserve and share those memories,” said Kyle Malady, vice president, product development at Verizon Wireless. “This tool is the first step in giving our customers the resources they need to make the most of the multimedia content they create, acquire or store using their wireless devices.”

At the same time, Verizon Wireless also notes that the solution can be used successfully for the transfer and management of the aforementioned content, as well as of unprotected music, from the PC to another mobile phone that comes with support for V CAST Media Manager. Basically, the solution makes it possible for one to change phones without losing any important files from the first device.

“Smith Micro is pleased to be engaged with Verizon Wireless to deliver a comprehensive, world class multimedia software solution to power V CAST Media Manager,” said William W. Smith, Jr., president and chief executive officer of Smith Micro Software, Inc. “We are honored to have been selected by Verizon Wireless, one of the world’s pre-eminent communication companies, as it brings the best possible mobile multimedia experience to its customers. Smith Micro views this win as a testament to our capabilities and strategic vision for our mobile and cloud-based media management strategy.”

Those who would like to learn more on V CAST Media Manager, download the software, or to view a list with the handsets that are currently supported by it should access Verizon's website here. The carrier further revealed that it planned on adding support for more mobile phones in the future, including support for its devices that run under Google's Android operating system.
