A new mobile phone was announced as being on its way to wireless operator Verizon in the United States, namely the Pantech Crux, which should become available for purchase in Verizon Wireless Communications Stores and on the carrier's website starting tomorrow, for $49.99 on a two-year contract.

The new handset comes from Personal Communications Devices, LLC, and should prove a great option for users looking for a device that packs simple, sleek and affordable features on Verizon Wireless' airwaves.

The new Pantech Crux sports a 3.0-inch touchscreen display, complemented by a virtual QWERTY keyboard and various widgets that offer easy access to social networking services.

Other key features of the new Pantech Crux include:

- Music player with external control keys - Pre-installed 1 GB microSD card – expandable to 32 GB - Mobile IM and Mobile Email - Virtual QWERTY keyboard - Home Key – Gives quick access to main home screen or allows customers to easily switch between currently open applications. - Media Center – Download ringtones, wallpapers and games to your phone Some other features of the new device would include support for Skype mobile, as well as for V CAST Music with Rhapsody, the digital music service through which customers can download soundtracks and albums or sync playlists with a PC.

The mobile phone also sports enhanced messaging options, including text, picture, video and voice messaging, along with Mobile IM, Mobile Email, and Mobile Web Email.

Stereo Bluetooth technology was also included into the mix, as well as HTML Web browsing capabilities for news, sports, weather and e-mail, and a Social Networking Widget through which users can stay connected to Facebook, Twitter and MySpace.

The new device should become available for purchase at Verizon for $49.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate, with the signing of a two-year contract agreement with the wireless carrier. The rebate will be received in the form of a debit card.
