Wireless services provider Verizon Wireless has just announced the launch of a new device on its 4G LTE (Long Term Evolution) network, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. Based on Google's 3.1 Honeycomb operating system, the new tablet PC would be released on Verizon's airwaves in the following weeks.

The wireless carrier will have the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 available for reservations starting with June 8th via its website, here.

The tablet PC is expected to hit shelves later this summer with a wide range of accessories to accompany it, including a full-sized keyboard dock and a multi-media docking station.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is a great option for customers who want to enjoy the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network – the fastest network in America,” said Jeff Dietel, vice president of marketing for Verizon Wireless.

“Customers can also use the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 wherever they are on the nation’s largest 3G network.”

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet PC arrives on shelves with a 1 GHz dual core application processor inside, complemented by 1GB of RAM and 16 or 32 GB of internal memory.

The 10.1-inch enhanced display can deliver a 1280x800 resolution, while the 3-megapixel photo snapper on the back can shoot HD videos, the company notes. On the front, the tablet sports a 2MP camera for video calling.

“The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 offers full support for Google Mobile Services, including Gmail, YouTube and more,” Verizon notes. It comes with Adobe Flash Player too, for a great Internet browsing experience.

“Both consumers and business customers will find a multitude of uses for the Galaxy Tab that range from video chat to business tools, including those that allow for the opening and editing of documents, spreadsheets and presentations,” the carrier continues.

The 4G LTE-enabled Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 will land at Verizon in two flavors, one with 16GB of internal memory, priced at $529.99, and another one with 32GB of memory packed inside, priced at $629.99. Both require the signing of a two-year contract agreement.

“Samsung Mobile is excited to expand its mobile tablet portfolio with Verizon Wireless to include the 4G LTE-enabled Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1,” said Dale Sohn, president of Samsung Telecommunications America.

“The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is the thinnest and lightest tablet in the world that delivers a truly mobile multimedia experience on an Android Honeycomb platform.”
