What the new Gateway LT2016u netbook is able to deliver to users includes a 10.1-inch high-definition WSVGA LED backlit display, as well as a small form factor that makes it fit for transportation inside a purse or backpack, an extended 6-cell battery that boasts up to six hours of usage time, Intel's Atom N270 processor for power efficiency, as well as 1 GB of memory and 160 GB of hard drive space.

The new device also includes multi-in-one card reader: SD, MMC, RS-MMC, Memory Stick, MS Pro, and XD; a 0.3-megapixel webcam, Dolby Headphone technology and built-in stereo speakers, 3G connectivity, Wi-Fi: 802.11 b/g, USB 2.0, headphone out, microphone in, Ethernet, and VGA ports, and a built-in digital microphone.

The operating system that ships with the device is Windows XP Home Edition, which should run smoothly on the N270 processor (1.60 GHz, 512 KB L2 cache, 533 MHz FSB) and with the 1 GB DDR2 533 MHz SDRAM memory present on board. With the 6-cell battery inside, the netbook weighs 2.95 lbs, while measuring 10.17 x 7.24 x 1.03 inches.

Starting with October 4, the Gateway LT2016u netbook will become available for purchase in Night Sky Black both on the carrier's website and in Verizon Wireless Communications Stores.
