Verizon Intros Casio Exilim with 180 Degree Rotating Display

Verizon Wireless, the largest mobile phone operator in the US, added a new handset to its offering today, the Casio Exilim, a water-resistant device that comes with a 5.1-megapixel photo snapper that sports built-in LED flash and 3x optical zoom. According to the wireless carrier, the new mobile phone meets military standards for water, salt-fog, shock, dust, solar radiation, altitude, and low- and high-temperature storage.

The Exilim has been manufactured by the electronics giant Casio and comes with an 180–degree rotating display (a 2.3-inch screen that boasts a 240 x 320 pixel resolution and support for 65K colors coupled with an external 0.7" Mono display), dedicated camera/video key, image stabilizer, auto focus, video recording capabilities for the camera, Bluetooth capabilities with support for headset, hands–free, dial–up networking, stereo, phonebook access, and Object Push.

In addition, the new handset also includes a wide range of multimedia features, such as Music Player with support for MP3, WMA, unprotected AAC & unprotected AAC+ formats, video playback capabilities, playlist management features and music syncing, as well as support for up to 8GB of optional removable memory and GPS receiver.

The feature list of the Casio Exilim also shows support for V CAST Music with Rhapsody, V CAST Videos, visual voice mail (allowing users to delete, reply and forward voice mail messages without having to listen to them), mobile email, mobile web mail, mobile IM, and chat capable, SMS, MMS and IM capabilities, support for VZ Navigator for audible turn-by-turn directions, HTML web browser, speakerphone, and advanced speech recognition.

The mobile phone measures 4.0" x 2.0" x 0.8" and weighs 4.5 ounces. Its battery can deliver up to 230 minutes of talk time or up to 540 of standby time. According to Verizon Wireless, the new Casio Exilim can be acquired for $280 upon the signing of a two-year contract agreement with the carrier and after a $50 mail-in rebate.
