Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless has cut the price tag for one of the most appealing devices on its offering to a mere $79.99 for today only.

Samsung Continuum, a Galaxy S phone, was launched on the wireless operator's airwaves last year as the very first Android handset to sport two touchscreen displays.

The handset was included in a special, one-day only promotion at the wireless carrier, which begins at 12:01 a.m., ends at 11:59 p.m. EST (24 hours). All that users would have to do is to head over to the carrier's website here to make a purchase.

The off-contract price tag for this device was set at $579.99. If purchased with a two-year contract agreement, the phone would cost $149.99. However, after a $50 mail-in rebate and a $20 promo discount, the handset would go for only $79.99 today, March 25th.

In addition to the usual display, a 3.4-inch one in this case, the Continuum sports a small, 1.8-inch display, on which users can see various alerts, including missed calls, messages and more, without having to power up the larger screen, thus saving phone battery.

The Samsung Continuum, a Galaxy S phone, with a dual–display screen, updates your world in real time on its exclusive 1.8” Ticker display,” the wireless carrier notes on its website.

“With the Continuum, your life continues uninterrupted on the main ultra brilliant 3.4” Super AMOLED screen, while unobtrusive updates are delivered on the Ticker display as they happen.”

The specifications list of this device would include a 1GHz application processor, complemented by 2GB of internal memory, an 8GB microSD card pre-installed. It runs under Android 2.1, with the Samsung TouchWiz UI on top.

The handset also includes Wi–Fi 802.11 b/g/n, 3.5mm Audio Jack, a 5.0 Megapixel photo snapper with 720p HD video recording capabilities, Skype Mobile, 3G Mobile Hotspot, or DLNA via AllShare.

“Get even more info, access and apps with the Continuum's web browser and Android Marketplace. Include corporate and personal email support, social networking and calendar integration, and the world is at your fingertips,” the wireless carrier notes.
