South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics has made available for download the kernel source for a new flavor of its Galaxy Note 3 smartphone, namely the Verizon model.

Those interested in downloading the file will find it available on Samsung’s Open Source website, where they will simply have to search for the SM-N900V model number.

The smartphone hasn’t been made available for purchase as of now, but it should arrive on shelves in a few days, and the availability of the kernel source proves that.

The code will enable developers to learn more on the capabilities of the device and to come up with applications tailored to fit them.

As Android Police notes, it will also enable modders to come up with custom ROMs for the mobile phone. The file is available for download as a 900MB ZIP archive.
