Verizon Galaxy Nexus is about to receive another software update, Android 4.0.4. Although the carrier usually publishes the changelogs of all software updates a few days before they are deployed, it appears that there’s no official changelog for Samsung Galaxy Nexus yet.

However, the folks over at XDA Developers found a way to download the upcoming Android 4.0.4 update for Verizon Galaxy Nexus and published an unofficial changelog that highlights the main changes.

Keep in mind that this major software update is only available for the CDMA Galaxy Nexus and will not work on GSM versions. This update does not require root, but bootloader must be unlocked in order to successfully update to Android 4.0.4.

The main change that is noticeable as soon as the firmware’s version is bumped to Android 4.0.4 is the fact that the phone is much faster. It boots faster, the autorotate feature is quicker as well, and the recent apps list now opens faster.

Also, lots of bugs have been fixed, including the one in battery states and the multitouch issue. Furthermore, long-pressing on a blank spot on the last page of an app tray issue has been corrected as well.

New radios have been included, which makes switching between 3G and 4G much faster. The smartphone now features improved signal strength and increased volume.

User interface for the camera received a few tweaks, for example holding down camera button makes it refocus again. The auto-brightness feature has been changed for better functionality and smoother transitions.

The integrated browser’s performance has been consistently improved, along with its quick controls. News and Weather app UI has been improved, and several keyboard bugs have been fixed as well.

Verizon Wireless has yet to announce the Android 4.0.4 for Galaxy Nexus, but those who think they can handle a manual flash of the update should head over to XDA Developers original thread for more details on how to download and install it.
