Today, mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless

makes its 4G LTE services available for users in 11 new markets around the United States, bringing the number of areas that can benefit from the advanced connectivity it can deliver up to 190.

The fast data transfer speeds are available for a number of over 200 million users in these markets, the wireless carrier states.

At the same time, the company notes that there are a wide range of devices available for its customers interested in trying out the 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network.

Among these, we can count the Galaxy Nexus from Samsung, which runs under the Android 4.0 platform, as well as the recently released DROID XYBOARD tablets by Motorola. Other smartphones and tablets are also available, along with notebooks and netbooks; hotspots and modems.

Starting today, users in Dover, Del.; Lafayette, Ind.; Fitchburg/Leominster, Mass.; Duluth, The Rochester Area and St. Cloud, Minn.; Manchester/Nashua, N.H.; Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; Findlay/Tiffin and Youngstown/Warren, Ohio; and Indiana, Pa. will benefit from access to Verizon’s LTE airwaves.

At the same time, the wireless carrier announced that it was expanding the network in San Diego and San Francisco; Washington, D.C.; Savannah, Ga.; Chicagoland, Ill.; and Baltimore and Hagerstown, Md.

Reaching 190 markets with its LTE network certainly means a lot for Verizon, since the company fired it up only a year ago.

“Introducing the 4G LTE network has been the fastest rollout of any next-generation network in our history. In one year and 10 days, we have brought 4G LTE to more than 200 million people. That’s more than twice as fast as our 3G network rollout,” said David Small, chief technical officer of Verizon Wireless.

Verizon customers on the 4G LTE network can benefit from average data rates of 5 to 12 megabits per second (Mbps) when it comes to downloads, and speeds of 2 to 5 Mbps for uploads.

“When customers travel outside of a 4G LTE coverage area, devices automatically connect to Verizon Wireless’ 3G network, enabling customers to stay connected from coast to coast,” the wireless carrier explains.
