Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless announced recently that it managed to complete the integration of its network with that of Alltel in a series of new markets around the country. According to the company, the new enhancements that have been brought to its 3G network will result in better services for users in Toledo, Bowling Green, Defiance, Montpelier, Napoleon, Paulding, Port Clinton, and Wauseon, Ohio.

The carrier further mentions that the combination between its voice and high-speed 3G data network with that of Alltel delivers the largest network footprint across the United States. In addition, the company says that more consumers in the aforementioned areas will now benefit from the possibility of enjoying better calls, of sending and receiving e-mail and text, picture and video messages, of accessing the Internet, or downloading music, games, and ringtones.

“The addition of Alltel’s network to the Verizon Wireless network provides our customers with unmatched coverage in the area,” said Roger Tang, president–Ohio/Pennsylvania/West Virginia Region, Verizon Wireless. “Now our high-speed 3G broadband wireless network is the largest and most reliable in the United States, and network reliability is the No. 1 reason customers choose and stay with Verizon Wireless. We are committed to continuing to perfect our network so that our customers in Ohio know they can depend on us every time they use their wireless devices.”

As many of you might already know, Verizon Wireless bought Alltel ten months ago, and it has been working on the integration of the two networks ever since. The carrier updated Alltel’s 3G data network to the latest revision of wireless broadband technology for faster connectivity and increased download speeds. Additionally, Verizon says that it will continue the work on enhancing its network around the country, so as to deliver better services to its users. Its network currently serves a number of 89 million customers, Verizon Wireless also noted.
