Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX isn’t the true successor of the recently launched DROID RAZR, instead it offers those who purchase it almost ‘unlimited’ autonomy due to the high-capacity 3300 mAh Li-Ion battery.

Just like the DROID RAZR, this one will be exclusively available from Verizon Wireless. The carrier has just confirmed that the smartphone will hit shelves tomorrow, January 26.

Verizon customers who want to purchase the DROID RAZR MAXX will have to pay as low as $299.99 (230 EUR) and commit to a new two-year Nationwide Talk plan beginning at $39.99 monthly access. In addition, a smartphone data package starting at $30 monthly access for 2 GB of data is required.

When put against the original DROID RAZR, the upcoming Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX comes in at 8.99 mm, which is 1.8mm thicker than the former.

However, this is caused by the fact that the smartphone is delivered with an extra-large 3300 mAh Li-Ion battery, rated by the manufacturer for up to 368 hours of standby time or up to 21 hours of talk time.

It is also worth mentioning that the DROID RAZR MAXX sports a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, whereas the DROID RAZR features a slightly better 2.0-megapixel secondary camera for video calls.

The rest of the specs sheet seems to be similar to the original DROID RAZR and includes a 1.2 GHz dual core CPU, a PowerVR SGX540 graphics processing unit, as well as an 8-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording.

The DROID RAZR MAXX is powered by Google Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread, but it will be upgraded to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in Q1 2012, Motorola and Verizon claim.

The phone also packs 16GB of internal memory, 1GB of RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32 GB memory, 16 GB memory included).
