Motorola promised that Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich would arrive on many of its powerful devices, the DROID BIONIC included.

Although the update was initially scheduled for an early Q3 release, but it looks like DROID BIONIC owners had to wait a few more months.

We're close to Q4 and Verizon Wireless has just published the official changelog of the Android 4.0 ICS update for DROID BIONIC. This could mean only one thing, the rollout of the update should start within the next few days.

The new software version 6.7.246.XT875.Verizon.en.US will bring the phone's firmware to version Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich and will add lots of new features and improvements. The file is about 368MB in size and it should be pushed through OTA (over the air) in stages.

This means that DROID BIONIC owners can manually check for it by heading to Menu / Settings / About phone / System Updates.

Keep in mind that given the fact that the update is rolled out in waves, it might not be available right away for all DROID BIONIC owners at the same time.
