Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless has reportedly cancelled plans to bring to the market a specific Windows Phone device from Nokia.

The smartphone reportedly featured the codename of ‘Om’ and was supposed to land on the carrier’s network with support for LTE connectivity.

The phone was expected to emerge in Microsoft Stores in January and February, but it seems that all plans on the matter have been put on hold until Windows Phone 8 arrives.

Big Red is said to plan the launch of at least one Windows Phone-powered handset for later this year, though specific info on the matter has yet to emerge.

Following the release of Windows Phone 8 “Apollo”, the first LTE-capable handsets will make an appearance on Verizon’s CDMA network as well, so stay tuned for more on this.

For the time being, however, we'll take this info with a grain of salt.
