Verizon Wireless, the second largest mobile carrier in the US, announced the availability of three of its popular handsets in new colors, probably to start the year with a fresh look but
also for the approaching Valentine's Day, when pretty-colored devices sell like they're offered for free.

The first phone to get a new look is Samsung FlipShot (or SCH-U900), the clamshell that comes with a rotating display, very useful when taking pictures. Its new color is a vivid red one and hides the same nice specs of the original version: 3 Megapixel camera with multi-shots and video recording, GPS (VZ Navigator), EV-DO, Media player, V CAST Music and Video, Mobile Web 2.0, e-mail, Mobile IM and Bluetooth with A2DP. Of course, besides the red version, there's also the classic black Samsung FlipShot, for those who like darker colors. Both versions are available for $149.99.

Samsung Gleam is the other Samsung that changed its appearance and now comes in a fashionable purple case. "Gleam" is Verizon's name for Samsung SCH-U700 (not to be confused with Samsung SGH-U700, the slider that received the "European Mobile Phone 2007-2008" title) and comes as a slim clamshell packed with multimedia capabilities. The purple edition brings a new living wallpaper user interface, V CAST Music and Video, Instant Messaging (MSN, Yahoo!, AIM), Mobile Web 2.0, 2 Megapixel camera, Bluetooth and microSD card support for up to 4 GB of extended memory. Samsung Gleam in purple can be bought for just $99.99.

BlackBerry Pearl 8130 also has a new color, more exactly a pink one. The smartphone offers the same powerful features as the original version and with its fresh look, presented by Verizon as "chic and sophisticated" wants to attract female customers. It probably will, as besides the pink presence it has a nice set of features, including EV-DO connectivity for high-speed data transfers, GPS via VZ Navigator, Voice Activated Dialing, e-mail capabilities, 2 Megapixel camera with Flash and video recording, advanced media player, Bluetooth and microSD/SDHC memory card slot. The pink Pearl is available for $199.99.

All three new fashionable handsets can be bought for the mentioned prices only from Verizon Wireless after a $50 mail-in rebate, with a two-year customer agreement.
