As the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show event approaches, more rumors about an upcoming CDMA iPhone are surfacing. The latest news informs that Verizon is buying iPhone-related domains, which is supposed to point to a soon-to-be-announced Verizon CDMA iPhone.

According to pocketnow, a company called “Verizon Trademark Services LLC” now owns both “iphoneonverizon.com” as well as “iphoneforverizon.com.”

Obviously, this is the same company that owns “verizon.com,” which might suggest that Verizon Wireless carrier prepares to launch the long-awaited iPhone.

However, as MacRumors reports, the two domain names have been acquired by the company in 2008, from Jim Benton, who also owns the variations “iphoneonsprint.com,” “iphoneontmobile.com” and “iphoneonatt.com.”

Furthermore, the two pages now owned by Verizon are still pointing to the farm links that were hosted initially by the owner of the domains.

This proves that Verizon has no intention of reviving any of the two domains anytime soon and does not concern any possible release of the CDMA iPhone.

It seems odd that the rumor has surfaced only a few days before the CES 2011 starts, especially that most of the media is expecting an announcement from Verizon regarding its own iPhone version.

Even though this rumor does little to confirm or deny the actual existence of Verizon's iPhone, it is quite possible that the carrier is planning to release a CDMA model in the near future.

Rumors say that the Verizon iPhone might be confirmed at CES later this week or at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in February.

As a side note, Verizon iPhone 4 accessories have also been spotted a few days ago at retailer's Offwire site, which appeared along with a suggestive announcement: “It’s coming. The Verizon iPhone 4 is on its way and we’ve got you covered with the largest selection of cases and accessories.”
