Verbatim has again made good on its reputation as purveyor of various storage solutions, having unveiled, in Europe, a series of hard disk drives primarily aimed at backup tasks.

The external storage market is one that is always growing, what with so many companies from around the world throwing in their contributions on a regular basis.

Of course, ever since backing up data became routine for businesses and even many consumers, this was to be expected.

The fact that 2.5-inch and 1.8-inch portable HDDs came into existence also provided an extra reason for the making of more external/portable storage devices.

Verbatim has now announced a new line of desktop HDDs, which means that they aren't precisely aimed at being carried around everywhere but, nonetheless, aren't meant to be put inside a desktop case.

Instead, the Store 'n' Save series, as it is called, boasts the USB 3.0 interface standard.

For those that want a reminder, SuperSpeed, as the USB 3.0 is otherwise known, is the latest version of the Universal Serial Bus standard.

It is noteworthy through the simple fact that its maximum theoretical transfer speed is ten times as high as that of USB 2.0 (4.8 Gbps instead of 480 Mbps).

That said, the newcomers measure 192 x 118 x 49 mm and boast the Green Button application, which, obviously, reduces power consumption.

In tune with the main purpose that the Store 'n' Save HDDs were designed for, Verbatim included the Nero BackItUp and Burn Essentials software in the product bundle.

Finally, the shape of the drives allow them to either sit horizontally or stand upright.

The new Verbatim HDDs should already be available for online order, in Europe, for the prices of 76 Euro (1 TB), 96 Euro (2 TB) and 176 Euro (3 TB). That would put them at $102.62, $129.62 and $237.65, respectively, according to exchange rates.
