Apparently, unleashing new solid state drives is not the only thing that Verbatim has been up to, as the company has also been hard at work in developing a very new, very blue (mostly) flash drive.

The color blue has been a popular choice of man in the making of anything ever since ancient history, being a calming primary color.

Coincidentally, it has also come to be associated with the Universal Serial Bus logo (to some extent), as well as several top-tier players on the IT industry, those being Intel, IBM, Dell, HP, etc.

This once, news comes not form one of these companies, but from Verbatim, a storage solution developer known for, among other things, its Store 'n' Go line.

The series is composed of more than one sort of device, and grew not once but twice in the span of a single day.

One newcomer is the new solid state drive, which, in truth, can be seen as a whole product line in and of itself, since it features three storage capacities.

Apparently, this number of capacities is one feature that said SSD and the Store 'n' Go USB 3.0 flash drive have in common.

Verbatim's USB stick has a blue case that, one might say, veers close to purple as far as hue goes. Either way, the actual hardware is more important.

The transfer speeds go as high as 120 MB/s when reading and 70 MB/s when writing. Of course, when plugged into USB 2.0 ports, the rate will be limited to 480 Mbps.

The available storage capacities are 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB, respectively.

"USB 3.0 drives make a lot of sense because they are 100 percent compatible with USB 2.0 and offer far superior speeds to devices that have USB 3.0 ports," said Hans Christoph Kaiser, Business Development Manager Flash Verbatim EUMEA.

"We are expecting the bulk of the premium USB flash storage market to migrate to USB3.0 within the next 18 months."
