Verbatim has made the official introduction of its latest solid state drive series, as well as upgrade kits for those who want to improve their PCs without much hassle regarding file transference.

Verbatim has just announced some new SATA II (SATA 3.0 Gbps) and SATA III (SATA 6.0 Gbps) solid state drives.

The former have capacities of 64 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB, while the latter offer 120 GB, 240 GB and 480 GB, respectively.

Obviously, their performance levels are determined by the interfaces they support, not just their controller chips.

The SATA II drives read at 270 MB/s and write at up to 225 MB/s, while the SATA III units operate at over 500 MB/s, both when reading and writing.

Not giving any device names, Verbatim dwelt a bit more on the SATA 6.0 Gbps storage devices, pointing out that they got their performance from the SandForce 2281 controller.

Said chips also possessed advanced EDC/ECC and garbage collection algorithms, for stable performance over time.

“Verbatim's new SSDs and upgrade kits make upgrading your system's performance simple and secure, eliminating complicated steps and the risk of losing data,” states Mark Rogers, Verbatim product manager, Flash Memory.

“Whether you are a computer enthusiast, road warrior, student or business user, Verbatim's SSDs will give your system more speed and responsiveness for everyday tasks.”

The upgrade kits that Verbatim mentioned in the same announcement include the NTI Echo smart cloning software, useful for quick copy of the entire HDD, including the OS.

That way, buyers won't have to go through the tedious process of installing the OS and then configuring the PC with their favorite settings.

Finally, the upgrade kit includes a 3.5-inch bay adapter, mounting screws and even a special casing (for converting the drive into an external one) and a Molex power cable (for desktop use).
