However, provides very little storage space

The people over at Venzero have launched quite a few interesting portable media players over the past few months, all of them providing certain special features crammed in quite an elegant and sleek form factor and at some pretty decent retail prices. And that's also the case with the company's latest offering, dubbed the FREQ, which, beside the obvious playback capabilities, also comes packed with a built-in FM transmitter and receiver.

As any respectable PMP, the FREQ sports a 2.4-inch TFT screen with 262,000 colors and a 240 x 320 pixel resolution. The device is compatible with a wide range of file formats, including here MP3, WMA, WAV, JPEG, BMP, TXT and MTV, and, as mentioned earlier, also works as a portable radio and transmitter, which can prove to be extremely useful, especially for drivers, obviously.

Another important selling point of the Venzero FREQ is the MUSICMARKER music recognition system, which allows users to identify that interesting tune they've happened to overhear while taking a walk around town, for example. In order to do so, users will have to record a short fragment of the respective song via the built-in microphone and then synchronize the device with their computer. The Venzero software will then process the recorded fragment and find the exact name of the song.

Nevertheless, even if does provide some pretty decent features, the Venzero FREQ also has some shortcomings, the most important of them being the provided storage space. Thus, the PMP sports only a 2 GB Flash module, which is not nearly enough, at least according to today's standards, and especially considering the fact that this thing provides so many recording and playback options.

The Venzero FREQ will hit the shelves towards the end of September at a recommended price of around 100 US dollars (100 Euro), which is not exactly cheap, but it's relatively worth it, considering the features this thing provides (although the storage space is a definite minus).
