The President of Venezuela Hugo Chavez became the man of the day as he revealed during a live interview that he was the one who helped Latin sensation Shakira find a venue for her concert. Apparently, the singer couldn't find a proper location in Caracas and had her promoters contact him for help.

So, he offered to open the La Carlota base in Caracas, a military base that was used only by the army since 2005, when a coup forced Chavez out of power for a short period of time. At the time, hundreds of Venezuelans surrounded the base in the hope they would see Chavez leave the country.

Thanks to the President's prompt intervention, the singer was able to perform for approximately 10,000 fans in Venezuela on Saturday night. Hugo Chavez even joked about disguising himself and attending the concert, saying that he is among the millions of people worldwide who admire what Shakira is doing.

'Maybe I'll put on a wig and go see Shakira', the President said, adding that the disguise will be so perfect that, quote, 'my guards will not even be able to recognize me'. There is no information yet as to whether he really went ahead with his plan or not.
