Hacktivists are defacing and disrupting Venezuelan government websites in response to the deaths of three students during clashes between demonstrators and police. Over the past hours, several sites have been targeted.

In addition to hackers from Venezuela, groups from Mexico, Argentina and Colombia have also joined the cyber protests. The list of targeted government domains includes sosvenezuela.maderasdelorinoco.gob.ve, estadovargas.gob.ve, alsobocaroni.gob.ve, diputadospanjalisco.net and fundaribas.gob.ve.

The hacktivists have also attacked the website of the Aragua State Police. An email account belonging to the country’s National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology has also been hijacked.

Hackers have published a tutorial on how to bypass the Venezuelan government’s censorship systems, and how to hide one's identity online.

At the time of writing, most of the websites are still defaced. Some of them have been taken offline.
