14 DAY TRIAL // Vendetta Online, an MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game) from Guild Software Inc., is now at version 1.8.282, bringing more balancing changes and fixes.
In Vendetta Online, thousands of people can play together in a persistent universe. This is yet another major update that brings even more balancing changes and even support for Sony gamepads.
The principle of the game is very similar with Eve Online. Players take the role of pilots in a huge universe and start trading and fighting, with no rules to stop them from doing anything they would like.
The innovation that Vendetta Online brings to the table lies in the combat system. It's not based on “dice roll” and depends exclusively on the ship's attributes and on the player's skill. According to the developers, character progression takes place in the form of a variety of skills and other attributes, any combination of which can potentially open up new gameplay content, like other missions, ships, part of the Universe, and even new NPCs.
The changelog of the latest Vendetta Online is pretty generous and deals with some balancing issues, among other things.
For example, the Trident Type M maximum shield strength has been increased to 40k, which should prove a real asset to new players, the capship shield repair timer is now being reset after each hit so that it matches the way the NPC shields behave, and group health and sector list health now include shield strength, which should provide much better information about enemies.
Also, the shield strength will now show the correct values while manning a player-owned turret, and the repair guns are no longer capable to deal damage to player-owned capship shields. This problem has been present for some time and users will be happy to see it fixed.
Last but not least, a bug that was causing the shields to look like they disappeared when the capital ship pilot was manning its own turret has been fixed.
The developer also explained that more updates are on the way, including a “universe redux,” along with far larger, denser, and more complex fields of asteroids. The release date for this major overhaul of the Vendetta Online MMORPG hasn't been set, but it will probably land in the coming months.
