14 DAY TRIAL // Vendetta Online 1.8.299, an MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game) from Guild Software Inc., has been released with a number of small but important features.
The Vendetta Online developers have made a number of smaller changes to the multiplayer game, but some of those modifications don't apply to the regular platforms. You will find quite a few fixes that are designed only for Android.
Unfortunately, some of the changes only apply to the premium subscriptions, but those changes are only about balancing. The engine and gameplay should be the same for everyone.
According to the changelog, a “Save Password” option has been added to the Android version and it saves an encrypted copy of the user's password to the private data area of the app, the OpenSSL library on the Android version has been updated, all the small screen devices now go by default to a static background image in the station menu and swiping between menus is smoother, and more java reference leaks have been cleaned.
Also, only users with premium subscriptions are allowed to pilot Tridents now (non-Premium subscribers capships will be moved to the capship Shipyards in Latos M-7), the panning feature has been optimized to switch between station menus on Android, macro buttons have been added to the virtual keyboard, the Linux 64-bit version has been changed to default to single-threaded rendering until the multithreaded rendering problems are fixed, a very uncommon issue that occurred when users were to launch from their own capship has been fixed, and new capship turret assets have been added.
Even if most of the features seem to be directed towards the mobile platforms, the developers have promised that more tweaks and improvements are on their way.
In Vendetta Online, thousands of people can play together in a persistent universe that is constantly being improved by the developers through numerous patches.
There aren't many space MMOs on the Linux platform but, with the rise of Steam for Linux, players will start to see more of these games. The good thing about Vendetta Online is that it had a head start. The developers update it on a constant basis, which is a very good thing for an online game.
