Digital Tribe has released Velvet Assassin in the Mac App Store. Inspired by the story of British secret agent Violette Szabo, the game puts players in the shoes of Violette Summer, a beautiful World War II spy.

Sneaking her way behind enemy lines with no support or official backing from the British Government, Violette must walk up to her enemies and pull the pins from their belted grenades, infiltrate a Gestapo prison and slip cyanide to her own men before the Germans squeeze valuable intel out of them.

“And slink through the shadows to finish off your unsuspecting enemies with a single, silent move. Through Violette's fever dreams, experience what she experienced. Walk where she walked. And kill those she killed,” reads the game’s tantalizing description.

Requirements include Intel Core 2 Duo, OS X 10.7.5 Lion (or higher), 2 GB of RAM, ATI HD 2600 or NVidia 8600 graphics (newer is always better) with a minimum 256 of VRAM. You’ll also need five gigs of free space to install the game on your hard drive. The game sells for $9.99 / €8.89.
