Yet another headphone set has come out, although this time, we are faced with a product whose high price might be a bit hard to come to terms with after just the short press release.

Basically, Velodyne Acoustics has introduced the vBold over-ear Bluetooth headphones, with a price of $349 / €260 – 349.

That's a lot of money, no matter how you look at it, so one would think that Velodyne would write paragraph after paragraph about the awesome technologies available.

The company didn't do that though. Sure, it did say that the new headset had a high sound fidelity and all, but didn't provide many details, technical or otherwise.

Instead, it mentioned the carrying pouch and the material/color options: matte black and satin silver.

It really does look like the price is there just because this is a product designed by an international artist, namely Marta Hall, who also happens to be the Veldoyne president.

Then again, we can't really find any bad words to say about the design of the product, and the materials are definitely high-grade.

Clearly, Velodyne aimed to make a potential collector's item, and didn't let any superfluous concerns like availability stop it.

In fact, there is one technological asset it mentioned: aptX coding. A technology that enables crystal-clear sound even over the air (Bluetooth 2.1, range of 30 feet / 10 meters).

Not only that, but Velodyne included NFC (for easy device pairing) and a high-end microphone, plus an interchangeable battery (10-hour charge life, 1.5-hour recharge time) and on-ear controls, plus a cable you can plug in when power ends or you just want wired use for some reason.

The vBold wireless headphones are compatible with pretty much any Bluetooth device (although iPhone, iPod touch and iPad are specifically mentioned) and can fold up, to fit in the bundled carrying pouch.
