Velocity Micro, one of the most renowned computer boutique builders around, has announced that its Raptor gaming PCs can now be configured to feature the Asetek's high performance 570LC CPU water-cooling system which can dissipate in excess of 130W of heat.

Right now, the Asetek 570LC is available as an optional upgrade for the Raptor Z90 and is also included in the standard version of Velocity Micro's flagship gaming system, the Raptor Signature Edition.

Both systems are based on Intel's high performance 900-series Core i7 processors and can feature up to 24GB of tri-channel DDR3 memory, a wide selection of graphics cards including CrossFireX and SLI configurations, Creative X-Fi sound cards, and up to six hard drives, or SSDs, which can be configured in various RAID modes.

The units are configured with high wattage power supply units, the most powerful of which is rated at 1500W and is sold as a Velocity Micro unit.

According to the company, the Asetek 570LC gives its engineers up to 10° C more headroom when overclocking the systems versus standard air cooling.

In addition, the Asetek water-cooling kit should also lower the idle and load noise generated by the system while in operation.

“One of the biggest challenges when building any ultra-performance desktop is dissipating the heat generated by the CPU, especially when overclocking. Essentially, heat is your enemy,” said Randy Copeland, president and CEO of Velocity Micro.

“The Asetek 570LC allows our engineering team to quietly and efficiently cool the CPU for a more powerful, longer lasting desktop. That gives us a distinct edge over the competition,” concluded the company's official.

The standard version of the Raptor Z90 gaming desktop is priced at $2599 and the Asetek 570LC comes as a $99 option, while the “entry-level” version of the Raptor Signature Edition, with the same Asetek cooler as standard, is priced at a whopping $4549.
